Central Dauphin’s Caroline Shiery made her college pick Thursday evening.
The 6-foot-3 junior center said she has committed to Liberty.
Shiery said in a post to her Twitter that Liberty “provides a perfect opportunity for my faith to grow in a family atmosphere.”
“I just knew that was my school,” she told PennLive. “It’s the perfect fit for me. I just knew, and there was no sense in waiting anymore.”
Shiery said Liberty loved her size.
“They do have some size on the team,” she said. “They have a couple of really amazing forwards that I would love to be able to be like, and they’ve proven over and over they can develop that with their program, and their post coach was super-important.”
She had a long list of offers that included Eastern Illinois, Samford, St. Bonaventure, Delaware, Samford, UNC Wilmington, Binghamton, Youngstown State, Wofford, Manhattan, Toledo, LaSalle, St. Joseph’s University, Cleveland State, Fairleigh Dickinson, Radford, Lipscomb, Niagara, San Jose State, UMass, Campbell, Robert Morris, Lenoir-Rhyne, Lafayette, Iona and Cedarville.
She averaged 9.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game last season.
“It has been absolutely amazing,” she said. “It is still just a dream. I can’t believe I just committed. It’s the best feeling ever. The recruiting process was amazing. A lot of people get stressed by it or don’t like it, but I loved getting to know the coaches. It was just an awesome process.”
