COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football will finally open its season on Saturday against Nebraska as the heavy betting favorite.
The Buckeyes opened as 23-point favorites Sunday afternoon per Circa Sports.
That was the largest opening points spread for any Big Ten game. Wisconsin opened as a 21-point home favorite over Illinois.
The opening point total for Ohio State-Nebraska is 71.5. That is also the biggest opening total for a Big Ten game and tied for the third-biggest total for all FCS games this week, per Circa.
Las Vegas consensus made the Buckeyes at least a nine-point favorite at kickoff in each of their first 13 games, according to vegasinsider.com. Ohio State went 9-4 against the spread in those games, but failed to cover in three of the last four weeks.
Other Big Ten favorites include: Penn State (-9) at Indiana, Michigan State (-14) vs. Rutgers, Purdue (-2) vs. Iowa, Northwestern (-8) vs. Maryland and Michigan (-2) at Minnesota.
