College basketball insider Andy Katz has been high on the ASU basketball team, and its potential in the upcoming season, throughout the offseason.
But he’s now taken his hype of the Sun Devils to a different level.
Katz recently listed Bobby Hurley’s team as a sleeper pick for the NCAA Final Four.
He made the pick in a recent episode of his March Madness 365 podcast.
“Experience will matter,” Katz said on the podcast. “They are going to have their backcourt back. They are going to have leadership. It’s a team that I really believe will be right there to potentially win the Pac-12.”

Texas Tech, Rutgers and Creighton were also discussed on the podcast as potential sleepers for the Final Four.
“I really like Arizona State as a whole,” he said. “I love what Bobby Hurley has done. I love the fact that they’ve got experience back. The addition of Josh Christopher, I think that takes them to another level.”
This isn’t the first time Katz has praised ASU and its chances in the upcoming season.
Katz recently ranked 10 contenders for college basketball’s National Player of the Year and ASU senior point guard Remy Martin made this list.
He even made the top half of the list coming in at No. 5.
Of Martin, an NCAA.com story wrote: “Remy Martin will look to be one of the most prolific scorers in the nation this season. Katz thinks Martin has a good chance of leading the Sun Devils to compete for a Pac-12 championship and a tournament run. The 6’0” point guard averaged 19.1 points, 4.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game last season.”

Katz also recently counted down the top returning players in college basketball and he ranked Martin No. 4 on his list.
“One of the better scorers obviously in the country and in the Pac-12,” Katz said of Martin on a different podcast. “Can distribute the ball, makes money shots. With (senior guard Alonzo) Verge back at Arizona State and one of the best recruiting classes in the country, this Arizona State team has a legitimate shot not just to win the Pac-12 but be a team that makes a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.”
Katz is high on ASU chances in 2020 with Martin leading the Sun Devils.
Katz has the Sun Devils as a No. 4 seed in his latest March Madness predictions.
