Sanders impresses in first career start

Playing time for Shilo Sanders reached new heights on Saturday afternoon. South Carolina’s redshirt freshman safety logged his first career start and did not disappoint. The second-year defensive back, who spent last year developing as a cornerback, went out and led the Gamecock defense with 10 combined tackles, nine of which were solo stops. Playing as the last line of defense in South Carolina’s secondary, Sanders did not allow any Auburn playmakers get by him. He was responsible for two of the biggest stops of the game.

In the video below you can see Sanders push Tigers quarterback Bo Nix out of bounds with seconds left in the game. Earlier in the contest, he prevented freshman running back Tank Bigsby from turning a long run into a touchdown.

Sanders has played in all four games this season. He has 20 total tackles, 15 unassisted.
