Getting the Best Online College Education

While there is always a lot of debate as to whether an online college education is as good as a traditional college education, the answer is really very simple; there are good institutions that offer an online college education and there are bad establishments that offer an online college education. The same holds true for traditional college degree programs.

So, just as when you are looking for an offline course, you need to do the same kind of your research when you are looking for the best place to pursue an online college education.

Of course, you normally won’t care where the college is located unless part of the online program involves off-line meetings. Usually the physical location just doesn’t matter. However, a lot of the other points that you would consider before attending a traditional offline college or university should also be considered before you enroll with any organization offering an online college education.

The growth in the numbers of people pursuing an online college education has led to increased competition among institutions to attract students. The best way to assess the credibility of a site advertising that they have the best online college education is to ask about the accreditation of its courses. Accreditation means that some governing body for a particular field has endorsed the course. This can be extremely important in helping you to decide who to trust with your online college education. If a course is not accredited then you need to find out why.

There may be a number of courses that have not yet received accreditation from an appropriate association or governing body but still offer a good online college education. For example, the establishment may have applied for accreditation but not yet been assessed. In that case you can actually check with the particular accrediting agency to be certain that they actually are in the process of assessing the application for accreditation. Another reason may be that there is no appropriate accrediting body for a course. This is less likely but, nevertheless, could be a valid reason and doesn’t necessarily indicate that the course offered is not going to be worth taking to advance your online college education.

If, however, you find that the online college education institution has been refused accreditation, then they are likely to try to tell you that accreditation is not important. And that simply isn’t true. An online college education from a non-accredited institution is not going to be viewed as positively as one from an accredited establishment. Choose where you go to get your online college education with care to ensure that you are not wasting your time and money by having a nearly worthless qualification.

Another factor related to accreditation has to do with professions requiring some form of governmental license or certification. You need to be certain that any college degree or other course certification will be acceptable to whatever licensing body has authority over the profession in the location you live and work …

Globalization’s Impact on an Accounting Education

The world is in constant motion and transforming its information, customs, cultures, and ideas daily; this is the process of globalization and it is gaining a lot of popularity in the business world and quickly becoming, if not already, a social norm. The world is becoming smaller, technology is improving and markets are becoming larger in this rapidly growing global economy. Students today are part of this change in a sense that college students in the field of accounting are reevaluated and taught differently to better aid them with international awareness and customs to ensure future successes within this business field.

Accounting is known as the “language of business,” it is imperative that globalized companies understand and can harmonize with one another to make sure a common understanding so that accounting procedure is understood by the entire business community (Paul, 2007). “While the changes in the business environment impact accounting and accounting education, there is a recent call to advance the research in accounting education in order to provide the best answers to the challenges from the environment” (Albrecht and Sack, 2000; Albu, 2012). Therefore, teaching accounting to students today include a longer and more diverse structure to accommodate and keep up with emerging economies (Albu, 2012). To encompass the idea of globalization for accounting students, they must understand two key concepts; the accounting process they learned in school, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting principles used internationally, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) (De Gottal, 2014). If students only focus on GAAP, it could hinder their opportunities for a job in the future when dealing with international financial companies. GAAP, which is mainly taught as US colleges are not used worldwide. It would be necessary for students to grasp both concepts to help gain essential comprehension which will give them the opportunity to go further than those without this knowledge.

If not yet, then very soon, accounting majors will be made to take more international courses so they can entirely understand and be knowledgeable of the different political, economic, and market systems of every country. To fully grasp these principles can only help students studying accounting when they are finally applying for jobs in this competitive field. It would not be surprising that in the future, countries eventually comply with each other to craft one set of accounting standards and laws. Along with more intensive classes possibly being added to the already 150 credits, five-year program before students can even sit for their CPA exam; students will never stop learning after they graduate. Accountants must constantly be up to date with the changing of such globalized markets and principles, since both GAAP and IFRS are updated so frequently.

Today, accounting firms are looking for more diversity when hiring a potential employee. For instance, many students take a major in accounting and a minor in Finance. Firms today are looking for more variety in a potential candidate. Minors, or even a double majoring in international business shows firms of ones …

The Career Mom is the CEO of Everything!

I realized the critical importance of the role of career mom when I had my kids and had to work at home at the same time. Not only are skilled moms assuming the roles of being mom, they are also taking on the role of being a woman, a wife, a daughter, a business owner or an employee, etc. And we're not even talking about bringing a driver to the kids, a cook to the family, a teacher or tuition teacher every single day of the year until the kids are capable of driving themselves around. Most of the time, the career mom may have to assume the role of psychiatrist and counselor as well!

Now, I do not know about you but I think this whole thing about multi-tasking and multiple role-playing is pretty hard to stomach.

That's why it's essential to the emotional and physical health of the career woman to take care of herself and remain in tip-top condition health-wise, emotionally, physically and mentally. As soon as we, career moms, crumble, the people around us who are dependent on us (although husbands may refuse to admit their dependency on us) will crumble along with us!

Career moms work, on average, 51/2 days a week and that turns out to be around 44 hours a week. And when they return home, it's not the end. There's no time to sit around, lounge around in the bath or put on a facial mask or anything like that because the kids need to be fed, the clothes need to be ironed, the floor needs sweeping and the garbage needs to be taken out! Career moms do not normally get overtime, if they are approaching above average salary and yet they do not get paid anything for working on the family. It seems that career moms have to spend right about 25 hours every single week on household responsibilities while their male counterparts get off work and STAY off work.

Balancing a career and a family is never an easy thing – no one in his or her right mind will tell you that it's a walk in the park. The process of trying to balance the importance of a career and the significance of the family in her life is never ending. However, with some form of plan that can help the career mom organize and plan the days of her week, a career mom might be able to find some time to spend on herself!

A career mom, Kimberly, once told me that she made a pact with her husband, Geoffrey, that he is not to watch television on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays because those are the days that Geoffrey is expected to help deal with the kids. Kimberly further told her husband that she will go the gym or attend to her personal needs every Thursday and Sunday, hence, Geoffrey will have to take over from this career mom, family-wise. Although we have to admit that not every …

FOREX Education – Work Smart Not Hard To Succeed

I read a lot about FOREX education and how it is essential to succeed and of course this is true, but most people do not really understand what they should learn and how to do it.

So here are some guidelines, on how to work smart and not hard to achieve FOREX trading success.

When you are looking for FOREX education you can get most of it for free on the net.

Do not be tempted to buy e-books or "sure fire" trading methods from guru's.

Why?

Because the FOREX education they offer is normally going to cost you and it's not worth the money.

Most of it is written by great salesman (with great copy) or failed brokers.

In most cases, if it was that good they would not be selling it; they would keep quite and make money for themselves.

Harsh but true!

If you do want to buy from a guru on the web make sure they have a real time track record that has made money and not a simulation.

The good news is:

There is a huge resource of information on the web you can tap into and it's all free.

As a novice trader you can learn everything about technical analysis and indicators and see how they have performed in real time.

You can also find lots of material on the trains of successful traders and how you can acquire these tracks to make money.

You can then build a trading system for free from this FOREX education and even learn how to apply it.

Paid education that is worth the money.

Look no further than an online bookstore.

There are many great books you can buy from traders who have made money.

Unlike the guru's on the net who rely on hyped sales copy these guys do not need to:

They have made real money and lots of it.

There are many books to choose from but here are some of my favorites after reading several hundred over the last 18 years:

1. Market Wizards – Jack Shwager (Edit)

This book is interviews with some of the all time great traders and allows you to tap into and learn from the best.

Quite simply, inspiring and essential FOREX education.

2. Trader Vic – Victor Sperandeo

Perhaps my favorite book of all time.

EVERYTHING you need to know about devising a plan for profit is in this book.

From the essentials of a trading plan, to money management and how to acquire discipline to stick with your plan and achieve trading success.

Again, essential FOREX education.

Other authors to check out are:

John Murphy (for his writing on technical analysis) Max G√ľnter (check him out for some unconventional money making tips!) Jake Bernstein (great insight into the mindset you need to win) and finally, William Gallagher's excellent book Winner Takes All – A very entertaining read.

There are many more but the above will give you some great FOREX education.

My own view in …
