What Career Is Right

If you're thinking of changing jobs, or just fed up with your current role, then you may be thinking about a whole new career, but how do you know what career is right?

You will probably spend 50% of your waking life at work, so it's worth getting your career choice right.

Personality. There should be a good match between your personality and your chosen career. If your career is well-matched you'll have a fulfilling career. There are two main aspects to consider: whether the career and position offers you the opportunity to work in your preferences, and to what extent you will need, at times, to stretch outside your preferred style.

Motivation. Some people claim they are 'strongly motivated', others do not consider themselves motivated at all. The reality is that though we are all motivated at varying levels at different times, and this depends on emotion, personal circumstances, stress levels and carrying out tasks that we enjoy. If you choose a career which you enjoy, you stand the best chance of increasing your motivation levels through your job. Of course your emotion is difficult to control, but knowing about yourself will help, think about:

Your interests

What gives you a "sense of achievement"

Unconscious motivation factors, (see models such as Maslow, Hertzberg or Firo)

Skills. You may need to retrain to take up a new career, or you may already have the experience. This is something you will have to consider when discussing which career to proceed with.

Values.Your personal values will have an impact on which type of roles you will be happy in. For example if your religion may mean you do not want to work in an industry involving alcohol, or your lifestyle may demand that you only work standard office hours. Think about:

The lifestyle you want

Your beliefs, religion or ethical guidelines you follow

The type of organization or people you want to work for

The product or service you want to contribute towards

Constraints. These might include:

Financial commitments or limitations

The geographical location where you can work

Family responsibilities

Physical disability or restriction

Your qualifications / education

Ambitions. Your long term aims and where you see yourself 20 years from today will affect your career choices now. Ask yourself:

How can you see your family life and relationships during that time – will you have children?

Do you want to stick with the same job until you retire, or do you expect to be changing repeatedly.

Do you intend to eventually work for yourself, or own your own business.

When do you intend to retire?

Opportunities. Establishing which career will be best for you can take some time, but an important consideration is what opportunities are available, after all there's no point retraining if there are no job opportunities in that sector. …

Getting New Customers Through Education

Educating your customers, both new and old ones, can be a huge benefit for producing more sales. Many if not most businesses rarely do this. They do not understand the real embedded value of doing it. Here is a gold mine waiting for the canny entrepreneur to dig for gold. If you look closely you can see why. Before a customer buys anything they have to be convinced the purchase will make them better off. To be sure of this the customer must have enough knowledge about what they are buying to be able to make the right decision in their own mind.

It follows the more you can explain your offering in words that they will easily understand the better. Do not blind them with science. Just explain in language understand what your offering is all about. Doing this will bring them much quicker to the ultimate buying decision. Obviously all other things must be in place before they will part with money, but the more relevant information you give them which helps them realize they will be better off owning what you have to offer the better. So education is a good way to help customers buy.

Educating them long before they even think of buying your offering is even better. It is a great way to position yourself as the right vendor for them when they are ready to buy. This way you get to be in pole position. You are then already one step ahead of the competition. So start to think in terms of education.

First look at the general aspects of your offering before the specifics. The detail is more important at the time of actual purchase when the different options are considered. For instance if you make a study of the little known aspects of your business and what you produce or offer, this can make a big difference to the end result in a buying customer.

For instance think about what your industry knows about but your target prospective customers are unlikely to. Often businesses get so Caught up in their work that they think everyone knows all about what goes into the product or service. They do not. Just because it is obvious to you, does not necessarily mean your customers think the same way. So to bring out the little known facts, figures and benefits you take for granted. Explaining them can make a big difference to winning more sales from your customers.

Dig around in all the corners of the work you do, and try and find something interesting or little understood. It could be a technical thing with a funny name attached to it. Write it down and explain how the name came about and what it means. Go on and explain how relevant it is in the overall system or plan or product or service that is the end finished article.

Choosing The Best Nursing Programs Is Vital For Your Career

Nursing programs are the first step towards a career in the medical profession. There are a number of ways that you can get started in a career as a nurse but just about all them require you to a complete recognized training course or earn your degree from a registered nursing school.

One of the most common ways to enter the profession is to become a nursing assistant or licensed practical nurse by gaining a diploma or associate’s degree through any of the nursing school programs offered at community or junior colleges.

Always Look For A Fully Accredited Nursing Program

When looking for a good school, you need to consider the type of nursing programs it offers, the cost of tuition and school fees and whether grants, scholarships or other financial assistance is available. Also make sure that it is fully accredited to the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing and Education (CCNE).

If it has this accreditation, then you can be certain that the standard of the tuition is first class and that you will receive the quality healthcare education that you are after. Make sure the school offers hands-on clinical practice experience and has a good rate of students passing the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) too.

Graduates from accredited nursing programs also have a higher chance of finding a job quicker as hospitals and other employers recognize the higher quality training and education that you have received.

Increasing Demand For Well Trained Nurses

The most common and practical degrees are the two-year Associate Degree Nurse (ADN), which provides a good practical framework for your career in nursing, and the most advanced four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) which is a more in-depth course that provides more comprehensive learning and greater experience.

So as well as providing a full and rounded education, many programs offer you the chance to get greater experience in your specialized chosen field. For example, once you begin training it is very common for nurses to become very interested in a one particular area of medical care such as pediatrics, neonatal care, forensics, midwifery or any of the other specialized areas.

With a global shortage of qualified nurses and aging populations that require greater medical care, the demand for first class medical programs has never been higher. According to government statistics, around 20% more nurses than are currently trained through programs will be needed as nursing assistants, licensed practical nurses and registered nurses.

A career in healthcare gives you a great deal of personal satisfaction, responsibility and a real sense of accomplishment. And only proper nursing programs can give you the skills and training that you need to succeed.…

Difference Between On-Campus Education and Online Education

On-campus education vs. online education! Is one better than the other? Can one completely replace the other? Indeed it seems that online education is the way of the future. Educational institutions, corporations and government organizations alike already offer various forms of electronic teaching. However, can a computer truly replace a teacher and a blackboard?

How people learn

Each individual has a form of learning that suits them best. Some individuals achieve fantastic results in courses taught online, however most people drop out of 100% computer-led courses. Educational institutions, as well as companies in carrying out staff training, must recognize that there is no ideal way to carry out the teaching of a large group of individuals, and so must design programs that best suits the needs of the group as a whole.

People learn using multiple senses. This involves learning through both theoretical components of a course, as well as social interaction with both instructors and other students. Students learn from each other’s mistakes and successes, not just from what they are told by instructors.

Each individual student has an ideal learning pace. Instructors are therefore faced with the challenge of designing courses that move forward such that those students with a slower learning pace do not get left behind, while not moving so slowly that students with faster learning paces get bored.

Online education

In the age of high-speed information transfer, online education is becoming a popular and cheap means for delivering teaching to individuals outside the classroom, and in some cases all over the world. Teaching can be via CD, websites, or through real-time online facilities such as webcasts, webinars and virtual classrooms. However, different methods of online education each have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Online education is still a relatively new concept, and in many respects still in the teething stages. As such, various problems arrive across different online education environments. For example:

1. Lack of immediate feedback in asynchronous learning environments: While some online education environments such as webcasts, webinars and virtual classrooms operate live with the addition of an instructor, most do not. Teaching that is delivered through a CD or website, although having the advantage of being self-paced, provides no immediate feedback from a live instructor.

2. More preparation required on the part of the instructor: In an online education environment, an instructor can not simply stand in front of a whiteboard and deliver a class. Lessons in online education environments must be prepared ahead of time, along with any notes and instructions that may accompany the teaching.

In many cases it would also be necessary that the instructor not only understands the concepts being taught, but the technology used to deliver that teaching. This therefore increases the skill-levels needed of online education instructors, placing greater demand on educational institutions.

Staffing levels may also be higher for courses run in an online education environment, requiring for example:

The Instructor – able to teach both course content and be skilled in the use of …
